Last week we got Tizzy registered for Kindergarten.
Kindergarten! If the time keeps up at this warp speed, he'll be married by tomorrow evening.
Walking down the corridor after dropping his papers off at the office, we were stopped by the recess bell. The doors flew open, and hundreds of children came pouring out of the classrooms, running and screaming wildly down the walkway.
Tizzy was caught in the middle of the hall as they rushed passed.
I turned to see how he was handling it and found him with his arms outstretched, face turned upward toward the sky, with a giant grin splashed across his face.
Every so often a child would call out "Hi little boy!" and he would turn to watch as they'd disappear, waving his arm like a celebrity.
When the hall had finally calmed and the last kid had disappeared, he looked at me with a rush of excitement and shouted:
"This is where I'm going to Kindergarten!!!"

Priceless!
Oh man, already? I better check when registration is here... :/
That is just SO beyond awesome!!!
I'm registering Jack tomorrow. I just can't believe the time has come. He still seems so young to me. It's funny that I should have such ambivalence about my second child. Bella just seemed so much older. Maybe it's also a question of numbers. Now two of my kids will be in elementary school and I'll only have one left at home...
Anyhow, enough about me. This was, as usual, a beautifully written post. I could just picture the scene. Thanks for taking the butterflies out of my stomach!
So glorious! He sounds like a kid who is going to definitely conquer kindergarten. Then, sigh, suddenly it will hit you that, with the school year already on the downward spiral, you'll have to get used to your cutie going into second grade.
Or maybe that's just me.
Sometimes, the clock DOES seem to spin that fast ;)
Milestones!
How's long has he got to wait? Too long, I can hear him replying!
Big step! Then what for you!?
Wow. I agree that it's too fast. If we were sending Pablo to kindergarten, we'd need to register him soon. I can only imagine the terror he would have felt if he had been in that hallway. Probably better we don't register him. Awesome for Tizzy.
what a weight off.
oh man. no self esteem issues there. He is going to love it!
oh! what a wonderful post. he's thrilled, you're amazed. just as it should be.
How exciting for him! Do you think it'll be challenging for him to let go on the first day? Being a teacher, that's our number one drama on the first day of school! Tears GALORE!
I remember my first day of kindergarten. It was HUGE! I still have the picture of me on our front porch, somewhere. Those are the milestones I am so excited for.
That is soooo cool! I remember Jadon's last day of PreK we drove by the elementary, and he said to me "mom, can I start my new school tomorrow?".
Will he ride the bus? J rides in the afternoon. He is OBSESSED with bus's now!
How much fun!
It is a promising start.
Wow, what a great reaction!!! Little Bear is in kindergarten now (Yeah, in the fall she'll be in FIRST grade, even scarier!!!) and she seems to like it!
Having taught kindergarten for a whole lotta years, I can tell you that it's better than any concert, it's cooler than cool, it rocks the house, and it is THE place to BE.
He sounds like my 3 year old who was really blaze about starting pre-school!
I have photo tagged you over at my blog
Oh, man. What a pro!
Long may the excitement last! Does he realise just how many years of full-time education he has ahead of him?
Oh, BTW, I've given you an award. Come to my site to claim it!
Sweet. Nevermind my own 5 year old daughter; I can't quite conquer the Kindergarten thing myself, and I am 37.
