Thanks!

Tizzy: Hey Mom? What are you thankful for?

Me: (Typical mom answer...) My boys who make me so happy every day, who make me laugh and smile and are such wonderful Zip 'n' Tizzy's, (When they're not making me bonkers... and even then.) What are you thankful for?

Tizzy: Grass!

Me: Grass? Why are you're thankful for grass?

Tizzy: I like to run on grass, and play on grass, and roll around in the grass, lay down and rest on the grass. Yep. I'm thankful for grass!

Me: O.K. – Zip, what are you thankful for?

Zip: (Looking down at his taco) Spice.

Me: Spice?

Zip: Yeah. It makes me want to eat my taco.

So, I'm still peeling paint, plus a little bit of sanding. I'm hoping, that by some Thanksgiving Miracle I will paint this weekend, but, if I don't I'm thankful that I have family with a sense of humor who will look the other way if we have to curtain off the kitchen and eat off the living room floor. I'm thankful that this is the extent of my concerns and that, as of writing this, my family is healthy and strong, and I'm thankful for finding you, my virtual and real life friends who story swap in this virtual water cooler. It's been a great year! Thanks for all of your sharing!

Happy Holidays to you all!

What are you Thankful for?

Remiss

I've been gone...
Taken on a project that's been hanging over me for at least two years.
I am so grateful now that it's not something I took on when the boys were babies.
If I had one of two things would have happened. I would be as far along today as I am today, having given up entirely, or I would have moved. Neither appealing solutions. As it is, it's a project I've put off until three weeks ago, and thinking it would take me all of a weekend, it's taken all three weeks and running.
I've taken on painting the kitchen.
Sounds simple enough right?
I knew it had to be done. The paint was peeling off the cupboards in sheets. Every can put into the pantry would reemerge with paint clinging to the rims. There were a couple of spots on the walls where bits of paint were chipping, but it seemed as though peeling the cupboard doors and pantry then priming and painting would make for a happy kitchen. It was when I poked at those couple of chips on the wall that I knew I was in trouble.
The entire kitchen, walls, pantry, cupboards, moulding, EVERYTHING, had been painted –Glossy paint on glossy paint – without primer.
So I have spent the last three weeks with a paint knife in hand, the contents of my kitchen in the living room, sending the boys out with Brad when I can, and otherwise neglecting them entirely, on a peeling sanding marathon, with Thanksgiving as my deadline. I think I MAY slide in by the skin of my teeth.
Until then, you probably won't hear hey or ney from me, but know that I am thinking of you and missing you – just a little pre-occupied and dusty.
Peace!
I promise pictures of the finished product – assuming I ever get there!
